Newport Extension is a 85 sqm extension at the rear of a typical double-fronted weather board home in Newport. Clients’ brief is to design a modern open plan kitchen, dining and living space at the rear whilst maintaining 4 bedroom at the front. The presence of a large tree at the backyard has driven the new extension around this tree. This has resulted in an unusual and interesting space which separated the kitchen and dining area from the living room. This existing deciduous tree also provides a good shady spot for entertaining at the north-facing timber deck.
